Stephen uses arithmancy to discover new healing spells. Returnee: No Personality Personality: Stephen can seem very friendly, but the truth is that he keeps his relationship very superficial, and therefore it's very easy to be friendly when he doesn't care. He loves his family and would do anything for them. He will listen and not talk much when he's around people he doesn't know. If put on the spot, he will use his intelligence as a shield. He's very touchy with the people he knows well. Special abilities/strengths/flaws: He's amazingly intelligent and learning comes easily to him. He speaks several languages, thinks solving arithmancy problems is fun, and he picks up the intellectual side of magic very easily. Strengths: He's strong, and smart. His intelligence helps him adapt, but there are times where his intellectual knowledge doesn't translate into the practicality of real life. Weaknesses: He sees life in black and white, and doesn't get that people don't always fit that scheme. Relevant backstory: Stephen grew up in a strict environment, even though Pansy was very good at relaxing those rules. He can be snobbish, but unlike his parents, his prejudices aren't based on houses or bloodlines, but intelligence. He started reading and writing at age 3. He loves to learn, and all the extra classes his father insisted he take were appreciated and not an imposition at all. Stephen feels the weight of being the Nott heir. He doesn't understand why the fact that he's male should have such a huge importance. He resents the fact that he's expected to get married and have children. As far as he's concerned, he and her sister can both manage the family business and split the money. He doesn't agree that she shouldn't have a said, since it's the 21st century, and the Malfoy women have proved that women should be as involved as men in every aspect of life. He might love his mother, but he doesn't think that a life like hers is productive or something worth striving for. He and his father are very similar, although Stephen will never admit it. However, when they disagree, the disagreements are so huge that arguments start. Theo is smart, but ambition takes precedent, while for Stephen, knowledge for its own sake is important. Theo forewent his own desire to take his place as the head of the Nott family. Stephen thinks that what he wants is more important than some old-fashioned sense of what's proper. The biggest argument arrived after Hogwart's. Theo expected Stephen to go into the Ministry, while Stephen wanted nothing to do with it. His first love his arithmancy and research, but because his father was the Head of the Dept. of Mysteries and refused to work there. He also didn't want to work on the family business exclusively because it would make him dependent on his father's good will. Instead he decided to join St. Mungo's. Stephen loved the knowledge he acquired during his training, but he despised working with people. He doesn't like to deal with the practical aspects of healing. To him, illnesses are puzzles to be solved and not people to be cured. As soon as he finished his training, he went into research healing, where he can use his knowldge of arithmancy. He's now in his 3rd year with 2 more to go, but he's already shown signs of becoming one of the most brilliant scientists in the field.. Social/Romantic/Sexual Close Friendships: Any Ravenclaw in his years. Past Relationships: Azriel, Kirk Stephen was involved with Azriel Pucey while in school. However, they split up when they almost got caught because they both knew that their fathers would kill them. After school, Stephen went out exclusively in the Muggle world. He's never dated another wizard (or witch for that matter). He's had several Muggle lovers. In June, 2019, he met Kirk and after a month or so they began dating. About a year later, he told Kirk about being a wizard. In the summer of 2021, Kirk was transferred to New York City for his job. They stayed together for another year or so, but then they split up. Kirk is the one that introduced Stephen to kinks. They are still friends.
